MERINO WOOL

Premium, soft, lightweight warmth.

The bond between people and sheep spans millennia. From this relationship came Merino wool - prized worldwide for its smooth touch, moisture control, quick-drying properties and natural funcionality.

Merino wool vs. regular wool

Merino wool stands out from regular wool in comfort and performance. Unlike coarser wool, it is soft and gentle on the skin, breathable, moisture-wicking and quick-drying - offering warmth with remarkable versatility.

Caring for our sheep

How are the sheep that provide Merino wool raised? MUJI visited Armidale in New South Wales, Australia, a region of rolling hills and distinct seasonal changes, ideal for Merino sheep.

Flocks graze freely across vast pastures, sometimes resting under scattered trees. Managed without mulesing, the farm prioritises the sheep’s health. As farm manager, Matt, said, “Sheep are good neighbours - care for them, and they reward you with high-quality wool.”

Nature's functional material

Carefully raised Merino wool is gently sheared before summer, quality-checked and spun: long back fibres produce fine yarn, shorter fibres create medium-gauge threads. Soft and less-itchy, its natural crimps trap air, providing excellent warmth, moisture regulation even on cold days.
